The Coronation Celebration - three days of events for a very special moment in history

The Coronation of King Charles III will be marked with a three day festival of events designed to unite the whole country. The King, along with Queen Camilla, will be crowned at Westminster Abbey on May 6th 2023 but that's just the start of a string of celebrations linked to this truly historic event. Buckingham Palace has just revealed how the celebration weekend will be marked.

On the morning of May 6th 2023, Their Majesties will travel to Westminster Abbey in The King's Procession. They will be crowned by the Archbishop of Canterbury and the Prince of Wales will pay homage to King Charles III. Their Majesties will return to Buckingham Palace in the Coronation Procession, along with other members of the Royal Family. There will then be a balcony appearance.

On May 7th 2023, it's street party time. Get the marmalade sandwiches ready. The Coronation Big Lunch takes place across the country, organised by the Big Lunch at the Eden Project. Queen Camilla is their patron. Communities will come together to share food and fun and to raise money for local charities. Hundreds of thousands are expected to take part.

On the evening of May 7th 2023, the Coronation Concert takes place at Windsor Castle. Some of the biggest names in entertainment will be on stage and tickets are being made available via a public ballot, just as they were for the recent Jubilees. At the end of the evening, landmarks around the UK will be illuminated to mark the Coronation, a modern take on the tradition of lighting beacons at big royal events.

May 8th 2023 is the Big Help Out with the focus on volunteers and all they do to help others. As well as celebrating their work, everyone will be invited to take the time to support someone else. The day also pays tribute to King Charles III's lifetime of service.

It promises to be a celebration to remember for the Coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla.
