The Crown and Marmalade Sandwiches

The Mall on Jubilee Day 2022

It's a big year. The Coronation of King Charles III is the most important event for the Monarchy in decades. Amidst the noise of modern life, it's this ancient ritual that matters.

The King will be crowned on May 6th 2023. It will be a day of ceremony, pomp and circumstance. It will also be a day of celebration. Tens of thousands will hold street parties to mark the event. As it has been for centuries, it will be a day when the Crown is at the heart of British life. Whether you believe in Monarchy or not, even in the early 21st century it will conquer all on that spring day.

I'll be blogging about all things royal, the Coronation and the individual celebrations here. This blog is all about the Crown and the marmalade sandwiches that will appear on tables in streets across the UK to mark the ultimate passing of the royal baton from Queen Elizabeth II to King Charles III. I'll touch on all the parts of royal life and regal history that catch my eye in Coronation year.

I hope you'll join me for a while to consider the Crown and marmalade sandwiches.
